Improve my Teaching by Investigating my Practice: An Introduction to the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning
Join us for an interactive workshop that will explore how a SoTL inquiry can help you examine your teaching practice and make pedagogical decisions based on the information obtained through the process. Whether your project is a small change such as an integration of a new digital tool, or something larger such as a redesign of a course evaluation, SoTL can help you to evaluate the change in your practice to reflect on student learning. Using the framework proposed by Bélisle, Lison et Bédard (2016), we will explore some practical examples of SoTL in action, as well as begin to consider how SoTL can be implemented in our own classrooms. You will leave this workshop with a plan to move forward with an inquiry in your own teaching context.
Please note that you do not need research experience to participate in this workshop. SoTL is for faculty members at all ranks and stages in their careers. Discipline-based colleagues are welcome to enroll together to focus on a module-level project.
